There was a place I used to go as a kid… Not a park. Not a playground. A mountain. Right behind our house. To anyone else, it was just a slope of earth and stone. But to me, it was everything.
A secret world full of streams, sunlit rocks, and places to disappear into wonder. I’d hike beside the water, hopping over stones, chasing nothing in particular. There was one trail that climbed higher, winding through shade and sound.
It took effort, and maybe a little courage... to reach the top. But once I got there… That view. It felt like standing on the edge of the world. Below me, narrow trails curved through the meadow below, vanishing into unknown places. And I’d just sit. Breathe. And wonder. Where do those trails lead? What lives beyond that ridge?
My imagination would take off... into stories, distant lands, wild adventures. It wasn’t just play. It was freedom. I didn’t make the hike often... just now and then. But every time I did, I stayed as long as I could. Soaking in the silence. Letting the wind remind me, what it felt like to be completely present.
Looking back now, those moments were more than memories. They were little glimpses of what it means to feel alive. To explore with curiosity. To just… be a kid again, if only for a moment.
